Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This print is from a set by Hiroshige, titled 'Eight Views of Shiba in the Eastern Capital', which consists of eight places in the Shiba area located in the center of historical Edo (now Tokyo) in Edo. The lack of framed borders and the vibrant use of primary shades is unique to this set compared to the rather dark opaque pigment often used in Hiroshige's landscapes. Kakurinji temple also known as Seishoko is located at Imazatocho in Shiba. The clear sky after a storm is indicated by the figures in the foreground with their half shut umbrellas. The gradient of the the dark warm purple to the light warm blue is a fine detail on showing the dark storm receding away. A post-war reproduction by Adachi Company.
