Designer: Kitagawa Utamaro Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ¥ 16,000$ 130.00£ 98.75€ 115.00 Description: These prints date from the 1970s/80s, and were made by the Kajikawa workshop, which was hired to produce a folio containing 20 triptychs (60 prints all). They were made at a reduced size (29.5 x 19.5cm) from the original Edo-era prints, which were in the large o-ban format. This triptych depicts various people taking shelter under a large tree after a sudden shower. We can feel the intensity of the rain from the detailed streaks in the background and can feel the suddenness of the rain from their loosened kimono after rushing in under the trees to take shelter. Each print is lightly tipped into a paper mat. We will ship it in its original packing, folded in three. The displayed dimension is each print size. There is a foxing spot on the left sheet.
