Description: This print is from a set of reproductions of 25 of Hiroshige's lesser-known prints, given the English title "Rare Publication: Selected Works by Hiroshige" by the publisher, O-Edo Mokuhansha.

A view of Saruhashi Bridge (or "Monkey Bridge") in Kai Province (modern-day Yamanashi Prefecture), from Hiroshige's "Famous Views of the Sixty-odd Provinces" series (Rokujūyoshū meisho zue, 六十余州名所図会). The vivid autumn leaves on the trees clinging to the cliff is juxtaposed by the deep blue of the whirling river below.

The name of the bridge comes from an old legend in which monkeys aided a couple who wanted to cross the ravine by making a "monkey bridge" for them to walk across. The original print was produced in 1853.

There are pinholes at the left margin.
