Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai, published between 1831-34. Originally intended to be a set of 36, ten more were added to it due to its popularity, thus the total of 46 prints. The popularity of this series established landscape genre along with Yakusha-e (portraits of actors) and Bijin-ga (portraits of beautiful women). The distinctive feature of these printings is the use of imported chemical dye, Prussian blue. In the additional 10 prints, black ink is used for the key block, while Prussian blue is used for the other 36 prints. This reprinted edition was published by the Takamizawa Company. They are in two volumes - each cloth case contains 23 prints. The displayed dimension is each print size. And each outer case size is 35 x 51 x 6.5 cm. A few prints in this set have slight foxing. The set originally had two heavy foxed prints but they were replaced with our cleaner version. Each print is placed on a paper mat and a transparent sheet of paper is used for protection. Two prints are then put in silver files. The files are stored two cloth covered cases. 'Tokaido Ejiri tago-no-uraryakuzu'. This print has some foxing spots in the center of the print. 'Soshu Enoshima' 'Sumidagawa Sekiya no sato' 'Honjo Tatekawa' 'Joshu Ushibori'.
