Description: This print was done by Fukui Gessai, a print artist who did reproductions of historical paintings. This particular print belongs to a picture album of 12 issued by Aoki Suzando in the 1890s, after Ogata Korin’s original designs who is credited with reviving and consolidating the Rinpa school of Japanese painting.

A very delightful and delicate design with a jumping deer in the center of the composition. The white dots on its fur add light and softness. We can still feel the presence of autumn through the maple leaves that remain. The composition of the tree and the leaves charmingly framing the animal. There is also a very beautiful contrast of colors between the purple and the oranges of the leaves that add brightness and harmony to the whole design.

This print is worn, toned, and has slight creases but remains nice colors for its age.
