This particular print belongs to a picture album of 12 issued by Aoki Suzando in the 1890s after Ogata Korin’s original designs who is credited with reviving and consolidating the Rinpa school of Japanese painting. In this charming and detailed scene, Princess Izutsu is visible inside her secret residence while a man is hiding behind some piles of hay. Some maple leaves remain on the hill in the background and inside the pot in front of Izutsu’s house reminiscent of the autumn season almost coming to an end. This print is worn, toned, and has slight creases but remains nice colors for its age. Also, there is a small wormhole at the top left corner.
