Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketStorkSize: 22.5cm by 30.5cm (8.86 in by 12.01 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Katsushika Hokusai Era: Early Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This was originally a painting on a folding screen; five cranes are flying, and two storks are following them, including this one. While there is no background, the bird looks three-dimensional and very realistic. Very narrow feather lines are clearly shown, and the front and back of each black feather look natural. Many gradations are applied to the feathers and beaks, and particularly subtle black gradations expressing the shadows are well depicted, enhancing the feeling of flying in the air. Focusing on the eye of the stork, don't you feel as though it is looking at you? This particular print is a post-war reproduction by the Takamizawa Company. There is a foxing spot at the left margin.
