Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketMt. Fuji from SuzakiSize: 22.0cm by 30.0cm (8.66 in by 11.81 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Katsushika Hokusai Era: Early Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This is from ‘One Hundred Views of Mt. Fuji’ created by Hokusai. While Hokusai often drew Mt. Fuji in dramatic and surprising compositions, this scene is very quiet and peaceful. A pine tree is featured in the foreground, and on the right, the roof of a temple is visible. The sea waves are not very rough, only one boat is in sight, and in the distance, we can see Mt. Fuji. As no snow is seen on the mountain, the season seems to be summer. In most Ukiyo-e, the horizon is depicted as a straight line, but here, it slightly curves, bring a bit of interest to what is inherently a prosaic image. This particular print is a post-war reproduction by the Takamizawa Company. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
