You probably understand that the mound of snow in the upper left, built by the man with a large shovel, is representing the mountain. The man standing in the lower right, wears a straw hat and cape still covered with snow. We see a child in the center, carrying sake bottles and a water bucket. These details suggest that it has been snowing until just recently. Two energetic dogs are running around the snow mountain. They look so happy to be enjoying the snow. Hokusai vividly and realistically depicted the activities of ordinary people. This particular print is a post-war reproduction by the Takamizawa Company.
