Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketMt. Fuji from Misty ValleySize: 22.5cm by 30.5cm (8.86 in by 12.01 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Katsushika Hokusai Era: Early Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This print is from the "One Hundred Views of Mt. Fuji" (Fugaku Hyakkei) series by Hokusai. The original print was included a book published in the 1830s, although this particular print is an early Showa period reproduction. This is another in the set of Hokusai designs published by Takamizawa in the Showa period, which were taken from various e-hon (picture books) illustrated by him. Takamizawa added colours to what had been grey-tone images. So Hokusai never saw it like this, but perhaps he would just be happy that we are still interested, all these years later ... Bokashi gradation has been used in several places, giving depth and perspective to the print. This print has slight creases. Our sharp top-light has made the waviness stand out vividly; it's actually not quite so disruptive ... Also, there is a foxing spot in the middle.
