It was originally produced in 1822 by the publisher Ibasen as a multicolor printed fan print. The items here are reproductions published by Yuyudo in 1975. Fan prints are often on one side, but this series is unique - the design of the front and back sides of the fan are fused together, and part of the figures are overlapped on both sides to create the illusion of three-dimensionality when you spin the fan around and around. Each pair depicts a month of the modern lifestyle of a woman and this pair depicts the seventh lunar month, a woman playing the koto (Japanese harp).
