Description: Designed by Utamaro in his signature ōkubi-e (大首絵) format. This print, Poppin o Fuku Musume, depicts a young woman wearing fine dress, blowing a glass pipe known as a poppen (occasionally also spelled popen or poppin) Poppens were extremely popular in Japan during the early 1790s, when Utamaro is believed to have designed this print.

The carving is delicate and colors on her kimono remain vivid, the background is printed with a fine mica powder.

This particular print is a post-war reproduction by the Adachi Company.
