Description: This is from a Kunisada series depicting beautiful women against the background of a Joruri (ballad drama) script. This print refers to a Joruri play, Otuma Hachirobei, in which Hachirobei, who was in a relationship with Otsuma, killed her in a fit of jealousy.

The boldly diagonally drawn letters in the background, combined with the tense facial expression of the woman, give the impression of a dramatic story.

This particular print is a post-war reproduction by Yamada Shoin. Printer: Aoyagi / Carver: Koike
