Description: This print was published by Ishu Kanko-kai and produced by Kajikawa Kobo probably in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

The design shows Shizuka, a courtesan who worked at the Tamaya brothel in the Yoshiwara pleasure district. For some years, around 1796, Shizuka was the top ranking courtesan.

The yellow book that she's holding was written by Jippensha Ikku, who was a close friend of Eisai. Around that same time, Eisai illustrated some of Ikku’s books, including the comic book that made him famous.
