Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketThe Process of Color-Block PrintingSize: 14.0cm by 9.0cm (5.51 in by 3.54 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [M] ? Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This small book is an excellent guide that demonstrates the process of color-block printing. It uses one of Hiroshige's landscapes - a Mount Fuji view - as an example. Specifically, it showcases Koshigaya from the series '36 views of Mt. Fuji'. The landscape depicts Mount Fuji in the background, framed by two cherry blossom trees, one on each side of the composition. Each page of the book shows in detail, step by step, each layer of color that compose the final print. The book was published by Watanabe Company, probably in between 1940 and 1960. Note: The original print is oban (large format), but in this book it has been reduced to smaller than postcard size. Please refer to the photo above taken with the ruler and pen. This book is toned and has slight foxing spots. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
