Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketCows and CowherdsSize: 30.0cm by 19.5cm (11.81 in by 7.68 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Unknown Era: Taisho | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This print is from the series, 日本木版画粋 (Masterpieces of Japanese Woodblock Prints), a collection of reproductions of various themes and designs published around 1924. The print quality is excellent (for most of the prints) and there are almost no traces of baren on the back, so we assume that it was at least partially machine printed. This image features three cows, it is interesting how by putting them in the foreground they become the principal subject of the print. The mother cow is sitting and licking the baby cow while another cow is running toward some bushes. In the background there are some trees and mountains far away, we can perceive two persons behind a tree, one of them is giving a massage to the other and relaxing. There is a slight dent at the upper left of this print. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
