Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketBeauty in front of a MirrorSize: 40.5cm by 27.0cm (15.94 in by 10.63 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Kitagawa Utamaro Era: Mid Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: A print designed by Utamaro showing the tea-house girl Naniwa Okita admiring herself in a mirror. The series name, which appears in the upper right corner of the print, is Sugatami Shichinin Keshō (姿見七人化粧, "Seven Women Applying Make-up Using a Mirror", c. 1792–93). While there were probably, as the title suggests, originally seven prints in the series by Utamaro, this print is the only one currently known. A highlight of the print is the mirror's background, dusted with mica to give it a glittering effect. This particular print is a mid-1970s reproduction by the Takamizawa Company. There are a few foxing spots in the top right area of this print. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
