What started as a plan for thirty-six works later grew to a total of forty-six images due to popular demand, and some of Hokusai's most famous works come from this series. In 'Low Tide at Nobuto', we can see villagers out in the bay fishing and collecting shellfish. Mount Fuji, visible underneath the large torii shrine gate, is surrounded by pink clouds and a rich blue bokashi gradation in the sky.
