Designer: Katsushika Hokusai Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: 36 Views of Mt. Fuji is an extremely well-known series. What started as 36 works later grew to include a total of 46 images, containing some of the most recognizable works Hokusai ever designed. It was published c. 1830–1832. Tsukuda-jima (Tsukuda Island) was a famous spot of Edo which is visible in the middle-ground, beneath the houses some masts of some fishing boats rise like treetops of a wood. The weather is nice and the sea is calm so it seems a very good day for going out fishing. The focal point in the foreground is the loaded barge but other smaller fishing boats are also there to fill up the space. Mount Fuji rises up in the center of the composition standing out with its snow-capped peak against the pink low sky behind. This particular print is a post-war reproduction by Takamizawa company.
