Description: 36 Views of Mt. Fuji is an extremely well-known series. What started as 36 works later grew to include a total of 46 images, containing some of the most recognizable works Hokusai ever designed. It was published c. 1830–1832.

Some people are standing on the balcony of one of the biggest Zen Temples in Edo, the Rakanji Temple, admiring Mount Fuji far from the horizon.

The composition is fascinating and borrows Western perspective principles where objects decrease in size as they recede in the distance. It is also flagrant how Mount Fuji is the vanishing point of the composition and is placed in the center of it.

This particular print is a post-war reproduction by Takamizawa company.

There is a slight wrinkle at the upper left edge of this print.
