What started as 36 works later grew to include a total of 46 images, containing some of the most recognizable works Hokusai ever designed. It was published c. 1830–1832. Surugadai was a famous scenic spot area where interesting views of Mount Fuji could be seen. The snow-covered peak of Mount Fuji stands out against the soft pink sky announcing the dusk. Some travelers and pedestrians walk along the road, among them we can recognize a pilgrim, a samurai followed by three attendants … Some town houses roofs are peeking out beneath the green foliage and the yellow grass that dominate the scene. All the elements combined bring to life a scene of Surugadai in that time. This particular print is a post-war reproduction by Takamizawa company.
