Description: It is the middle of a rainy and snowy evening, and two beauties under the same umbrella (one of Harunobu’s favorite subjects) are walking quietly along the street, carrying some accessories indicating that they are returning from their bath, hence the title. They walk in a calm and serene mood, looking down at their feet; we can almost hear the sound of their high clogs throw the sleet in the middle of that velvety silence ...

Harunobu was known as the “inventor” of the full-color print in ukiyo-e, here we can notice how the joyful palette used on the figures stands out against the neutral background.

This print is a post-war reproduction by the Adachi Company.
