Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price:  Description: From the series "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (1856-1858) which actually contains 118 total prints, in full vertical format of classic Hiroshige landscapes. The first thing that pops up in this print is the symmetry of its composition. It is softened though, by the irregular cloud forms framing Mount Fuji which seems to be floating in the sky and taking all the spectator’s attention. It is as if he was crowning from above observing the crowd of people below in the street called Suruga-chō. Included in this scene is Japan's premier store, Echigoya, identified by its crest, a circle around the characters for "three" and "well," which together read "Mitsui." This particular print is a post-war reproduction from the Yamada Shoin Company. There are slight creases and slight foxing spots on this print.
