Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketMt. Fuji on the Left from '36 Views of Mt. Fuji'Size: 37.0cm by 25.5cm (14.57 in by 10.04 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Recent | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: After the great success of "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido," Hiroshige's next large-scale series of landscape paintings was "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji," picking up the theme so successfully treated by his senior Hokusai. When travelers walk down the Tokaido, they will come across a curve of the road. When they pass that point, Mount Fuji suddenly appears on the left side, instead of the right side. This is why Mount Fuji is called “hidari fuji” or left Fuji from this point. The vibrant colors used in the print give a sense of a fresh restart during the trip. This particular print is a reproduction by Adachi company published in 1998. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
