Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketTable of Contents from '36 Views of Mt. Fuji'Size: 37.0cm by 25.5cm (14.57 in by 10.04 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Recent | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: After the great success of "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido," Hiroshige's next large-scale series of landscape paintings was "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji," picking up the theme so successfully treated by his senior, Hokusai. It was the last of Hiroshige's major works, and it was posthumously published in 1876. Although some of his landscapes depict the same locations as Hokusai's series, the nicely balanced composition and color tones in the vertical format give the work a sense of season, poetry, and a calm impression. This is the title page of the series, where the names of the places are listed in the top two boxes and the description of the series is written in the bottom box. The print is beautifully decorated with colorful flowers. This particular print is a reproduction by Adachi company published in 1998.
