Item from the Mokuhankan Flea Market100 Poets - Ariwara no NarihiraSize: 25.5cm by 40.0cm (10.04 in by 15.75 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Katsushika Hokusai Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This is a reproduction of a design from one of Hokusai's late print series: 'One Hundred Poems Explained by the Nurse', and represents the poet Ariwara no Narihira. Only a couple of dozen designs were published before the series was cancelled for some reason. The publisher 'O-Edo Mokuhansha' began creating reproductions of this series in the immediate post-war period, but stopped after issuing four of them. Seems to be a jinx on this particular series! There are some dents at the bottom margin of this print. Printer: Itakura / Carver: Harada (This is Harada Kametaro, whose carving bench was passed down to Dave many years after he died ...)
