Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketOrchids and RocksSize: 57.0cm by 30.0cm (22.44 in by 11.81 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [XL] ? Designer: Bompo Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This is one of the "Selected Masterpieces of Japanese Ink Brush Painting" published by Tanseisha probably in the 1970s or 1980s. The original ink brush paintings, which express the depth of nature in a world of limited ink colors, were turned into woodblock prints with 85 to 90 impressions by master printers using antique Nara ink (black, blue, and brown). It is a work by Bampo, a Zen monk and a master orchid painter. The dense growth of orchids, bamboo, and thorns that arose from a rock is beautifully rendered by the shades of black ink. Note: it may be hard to tell from the web page, but this print is large - almost double the O-ban size. Please check the dimension indicated at the top. There are a few slight creases on the margins of this print. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
