Designer: Okumura Toshinobu Era: Pre-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: A woman in a loose summer kimono adjusts the tone of her shamisen in this print by Toshinobu. This was the rightmost print of a set of three scenes of women in summer by the artist. The print is an urushi-e, an image featuring a hand-applied mixture of glue and black pigment to look like lacquer, as we can tell from the thick texture of the woman's obi. This reproduction is a sumizuri-e (ukiyoe printed with black pigment) with fudezaishiki (hand colouring by brush). There are slight creases at the middle right part and upper part of this print.
