Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketWaterfall ViewingSize: 57.0cm by 37.0cm (22.44 in by 14.57 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [XL] ? Designer: Soami Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This is one of the "Masterpieces of Japanese ink painting" (日本水墨画名品集) published by Tanseisha probably in the 1970s or 1980s. The original ink brush paintings, which express the depth of nature in a world of limited ink colors, were turned into woodblock prints with dozens of impressions by master printers. In the middle of a mountain landscape, the two figures in the foreground seem to be enjoying their walk among the two majestic pines that are standing on the giant rocks. It seems there’s some way left before they arrive at the waterfall far away in the background. This design mixes some soft and flowing brush strokes like the ones of the trees surrounding the waterfall with bold ones like the pine trunks and the rocks. The color palette is very discrete with soft greens, grays, and browns giving a note of serenity to the whole atmosphere ... Note: it may be hard to tell from the web page, but this print is large - almost double the O-ban size. Please check the dimensions indicated at the top. There are a few traces of glue removal on the backside. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
