Description: This is one of the "Masterpieces of Japanese ink painting" (日本水墨画名品集) published by Tanseisha probably in the 1970s or 1980s. The original ink brush paintings, which express the depth of nature in a world of limited ink colors, were turned into woodblock prints with dozens of impressions by master printers.

Soga Shosen was a painter of the Soga school and is said to be the son of Soga Jasoku. This work is similar to Jasoku's style but with tasteful brushwork and skillful composition of the foreground, middle, and distant views. The use of light indigo and dark red colors creates a peaceful atmosphere.

Note: it may be hard to tell from the web page, but this print is large - almost double the O-ban size. Please check the dimensions indicated at the top.
