Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketView of HigashiyamaSize: 41.0cm by 51.0cm (16.14 in by 20.08 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [XL] ? Designer: Kano Hogai Era: Late Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This large-format print is a woodblock reproduction of a screen painting from the early 1700s. It was made by the Tansei-sha company (from Kyoto) in the early 1980s, as part of a set of reproductions of Rinpa and Kano schools of painting masterworks. Charming landscape showing a view of Higashiyama, interesting how the perspective focuses on the sky and mountains in the background, giving it a sensation of space and fake emptiness because it’s actually filled with the clouds. In the foreground, we can perceive the peeping roof of a shrine in the middle of a forest of pines, this simplicity in the composition actually adds a note of mystery and certain romantic sublimity to the whole landscape. This print has a few slight creases at the edges of this print. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
