Description: Utamaro’s “Modern Beauties of the Yoshiwara” (Toji Zensei Bijin Zoroi) series is regarded as one of his greatest works. Among the portraits of various women in the series, the Courtesan Somenosuke is portrayed as the youngest; Somenosuke is shown as an attractive and innocent girl. The print displays her looking over her shoulder as she opens a letter with a hairpin.

There are a few traces of glue removal on the backside.
