Description: This is a diptych from the series 'Shin Sento Nishiki-e' (New Selections of Eastern Brocade Pictures). It depicts the love story between the actor Ikushima Shingoro and a lady of the Shōgun's court, Eshima. Their affair caused them to be banished from Edo, and to live in exile.

Yoshitoshi succeeded in showing the passion between them. They are depicted together, Eshima is turned towards him with a sensual body attitude and he is sitting on the floor, looking at her with admiration.

These prints are partly backed, worn, toned, soiled, and creased. Also, there are a few pinholes. But they are in good condition overall for their age remaining nice color.
