In this series, Yoshitoshi depicted 24 people in Japanese history that had a great impact on him. This particular print depicts Miyagino and her sister Shinobu. After their father was killed by a samurai, the two sisters decided to take revenge. Many common folk people were touched by this story based on a real life event. The two sisters are beautifully depicted on this print, with lots of details in the hair and kimono they are wearing.
