Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketPeonies (II)Size: 33.0cm by 26.0cm (12.99 in by 10.24 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Urushibara Yoshijiro Era: Pre-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: One day in early May, Dave received a call from a lady he had met some years earlier - the widow of Ichiro Urushibara, the son of woodblock printmaker Yoshijiro Urushibara. Dave had met the couple a number of times, and Ichiro-san had been very helpful in providing information about his father's life and work for the 'tribute' website on Urushibara that Dave produced at the time. Back then, Dave also assisted the family with introduction to a dealer who could help them with the dispersal of their stack of woodblock prints by Urushibara, and the family's collection of prints thus made its way into the marketplace. The reason for Mrs. Urushibara's call this time? During a clean-up of some of her effects, she had come across another dozen or so prints, and was looking for assistance in selling them. The print on this page is one from that group ... the final woodblock prints with Urushibara family provenance. There are a few slight creases at the left corners and a few spots mostly at the margins of this print. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
