Description: This set of three includes :

1. Snow at Sumida 2. Moon Over Yodo River 3. Cherry Blossoms at Yoshino

Hokusai paints landscapes of Sumida, Yodogawa, and Yoshino with a rich poetic sentiment in line with the traditional Japanese theme of "setsugekka''.

This painting is a set of horizontal large-format paintings believed to have been made around 1832, and the winter scenery overlooking Mukaishima along the Sumida River is the subject of "snow." lower right small shrine is Umewaka Shrine.

The moon is the night view of Yodogawa in Osaka. And the flower depicts the spring scenery of Yoshino, Nara, which has been famous for its cherry blossoms since ancient times.

I put my ingenuity into each composition in particular, the bird's-eye view composition that Hokusai prefers to use during this period is remarkable in the two figures "Snow" and "Moon". In addition, although an extreme bird's-eye view composition is not used, the composition of "flowers", which expresses the cherry blossoms in full bloom as if they were waving clouds and gives the picture a natural depth, is also wonderful. The traditional Setsugetsuka (Setsugetsuka) is a novel composition that is very typical of Hokusai. It is an excellent work that incorporates a graphic sense and depicts famous places of various countries with a fresh image.
