Description: From the series "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (1856-1858) which actually contains 118 total prints, in full vertical format of classic Hiroshige landscapes.

The Senju Great Bridge was built in 1594 and it was the only bridge over the Sumida River until the completion of the Ryogoku Bridge in 1661. It was also the longest surviving bridge, thanks to its sturdy construction and high quality wood. The bridge eventually washed away after the great flood of 1885. The houses on the right are part of the Senju district, the first official post station in the north. The mountain in the distance is probably Mount Buko.
