Three colorful strips of cloth are hung out taking on the whole foreground and giving a cheerful note to the composition. A fire-watch tower stands in the background along with some buildings below which were devoted to lodge visitors to Edo, maintaining the function of this site as a point of entry and departure for travelers from the north. This particular print is a post-war reproduction from the Yamada Shoin Company. There are slight creases on this print.
