Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketCorridor in a Brothel![]() Size: 30.5cm by 18.5cm (12.01 in by 7.28 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Morikiyo Era: Taisho | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ![]() Description: This print is from the series, 日本木版画粋 (Masterpieces of Japanese Woodblock Prints), a collection of reproductions of various themes and designs published around 1924. The print quality is excellent (for most of the prints) and there are almost no traces of baren on the back, so we assume that it was at least partially machine printed. This print was designed by Morikiyo, probably in the Kyoho era (1716-1736), as one of a pair. It is often also titled 'The Gay Quarters' and depicts a beauty in a brothel. She is standing in a corridor, in a kimono with colorful obi, while opening an abundantly decorated sliding door. ![]() Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
