Description: This print is from the set 'Kacho Fugetsu (Beauties of Nature)' which consists of 20 Hiroshige design prints in ōtanzaku format published by Yuyudo in the 1970s, produced by the best engravers and printers at that time.

The hawk, the rising sun, and the pine are all representative of the new year in Japan. If this symbolism isn't enough for the viewer, the poem in the upper-right reads, "When the sun first rose in the New Year, there were no boundaries in the nation" (translation by the Rijksmuseum, p. 29 of "Hiroshige and the Utagawa school: Japanese prints, c. 1810-1860" (Amsterdam: Rijksprentenkabinet, Rijksmuseum, 1984)).
