Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketThe WeaverSize: 39.5cm by 25.5cm (15.55 in by 10.04 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Suzuki Harunobu Era: Mid Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: A girl is weaving cotton on a handloom. At first glance, the threads appear to be all white, but it is actually the kara-zuri (embossing) technique, and the threads seem to float softly in the bright pink background. Harunobu was the originator of the technique of iro-tsubushi in which the background is painted over with a single color, and in this print, the bright pink of the background is eye-catching. This particular print is a post-war reproduction by Yamada Shoin. There are some foxing spots on this print. There is a trace of glue removal at the lower left of the backside.
