Designer: Hosoda Eishi Era: Taisho | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This print is from the series, "The Nippon Mokuhan Gasui" (Masterpieces of old Japanese colour prints), a collection of reproductions of various themes and designs published around 1924. This print features two women, probably courtesans, in kimonos, sitting and reading. One of them is wearing a beautiful lavender kimono with floral motifs and is reading a book while the other one, in red kimono, is holding a fan and listening to her attentively. The woman reading is sitting next to a small wheeled desk that contains some more books. We must pay attention to the stunning accessories they use to decorate their hair. The woman in the red kimono is wearing a big ornament of small white flowers while the other one wears her hair loose and decorates it with multiple combs and wooden pins. It comes with a description sheet in English and Japanese. There are a few slight creases around the top right edge of this print. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
