It is a game in which players throw a fan at a target called a butterfly, and compete by scoring the shape made. Hokkei depicted the tools of the time about 200 years ago. This beautiful surimono (calligraphy and paintings printed on woodblocks)effectively uses embossing and silver paint. The printed date is unknown but it was probably in the Meiji period, 1868-1912. This print is toned and has some slight creases and dents overall. Also, the bottom right has a slit and the top left corner and right side are chipped.
