Description: This post war print by the Takamizawa Company depicts the autumn moon from Emonzaka near the New Yoshiwara, from Hiroshige's "Famous Views of the Eastern Capital" series. In the print, a flock of birds flies in front of a full moon in the dusk while a palanquin is carried up Emon slope. The bokashi gradation and the layer of fog that blankets the town are the highlights of the print.

The format of the print is called tanzaku-ban, and was very popular during the Edo era. This particular dimension made perfect use of a single sheet of washi being cut into four strips vertically. Many of the prints were actually made 'two-up' and then cut apart for sale later.

There are baren-suji (striations in the tone caused by the printer using a tad too much pressure) on this print.
