Designer: Unknown Era: Pre-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ¥ 7,000$ 55.00£ 48.25€ 55.25 Description: This fan print was produced in the pre-war period, and the artist, publisher, and production method are unknown (probably machine printing). Since many fan prints are consumable and do not remain usually, such prints may be valuable even if they have stains, misregistrations, or other damages. A woman in a kimono is holding a brush and paper, by the title we know she is writing a poem. The composition is interesting because the fan silhouette that enclosures the whole scene includes another fan in the center which is the one that holds our writer, meaning she is coming out from it with the purpose of giving a tridimensional effect. There is a square in the background that simulates a window and is showing the branch of a tree which seems to be the source of inspiration for our poetess because she is turning her head towards it. Just a word about the quiet palette used here which corresponds with the subject of poetry and thoughtfulness, it is a mix of light purple, pink-orange, and green. There are spots and creases on this print. Also, there are a few letters on the backside (unreadable). Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
