Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketShower at TadasugawaraSize: 26.0cm by 37.0cm (10.24 in by 14.57 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Taisho | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: From the series "Famous Views of Kyoto". It depicts a scene of people suddenly caught in a shower of rain. The sky is menacingly dark and the rain falls in torrents but they all have umbrellas and cloaks. Everyone seems to be running towards what we can assume are tea shops to get inside. By depicting the heavy rain through oblique black lines and the people running, we can feel the movement in the image and the moment of surprise that caught everyone, even ourselves as spectators. This print is a reproduction probably from the Taisho period (1912-1926). This print is toned overall. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
