Designer: Unknown Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ![]() Description: A beautiful woodblock-printed postcard probably published for foreign tourists in the 1950s, featuring a sightseeing spot in Kyoto. This print shows the three-storied pagoda of Kiyomizu Temple (清水之塔) in snow. The colours are so vibrant in this print- the red of the pagoda, the blue sky, and the white snow. The dynamic scenery is highlighted through the use of perspective - the woman beside the pagoda, the houses underneath the mountains, and so on. Note: unlike some of the other prints of this type that we currently have in the catalogue, this one is not mounted on a postcard. There are a few small marks on the front side as well as on the back side of this print. ![]() Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
