Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketRed Gate in SnowSize: 23.5cm by 36.0cm (9.25 in by 14.17 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Kasamatsu Shiro Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This design was originally published by the Watanabe company in 1935, and this is a later edition from them. We're not sure exactly when it would have been made; the paper is bright and clean, leading us to put the printing in the last couple of decades of the 20th century. The scene is the famous 'Aka Mon' (Red Gate) - the old entrance to the campus of Tokyo University in the Hongo district of Tokyo. This print doesn’t carry any of the ‘Heisei’ seals they used during that era, instead having the more traditional circular seal in the lower left corner. The displayed dimension is print size and the frame size is 39㎝ x 52㎝. The print is mounted - to a very high standard of framing work, in a wood frame with glass. This would be difficult to ship; our usual practice would be to discard the glass, ship the print/frame with protective covering, and the purchaser would source a new glass panel locally.
