The woodblock prints are pasted on shiki-shi (square piece of fancy paperboard). It depicts the play Ya no Ne, performed by Matsumoto Kôshirô VII as Soga Gorô Tokimune. The black areas like the handle of the arrow and a part of the kimono, are used sho-men-zuri (front rubbing) to give the surface a shiny textured effect. This print is browned with age and also has some spots and soiling. Also, there are a few pinholes at the bottom. It's a little curled because the print is pasted on a backboard.
