Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketHamamatsuSize: 25.0cm by 38.0cm (9.84 in by 14.96 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: After the success of the Hōeidō edition of the Tokaido series, numerous publishers commissioned Hiroshige to create the series and he ended up with more than 40 (!) different series. This print, from a series known as the "Reisho" series, depicts Hamamatsu Station on the Tokaido highway. Compared to the Hōeidō version, the Reisho version is drawn in a lighter, more stylized manner. This Hamamatsu is reputed to be outstandingly fine in the set. It mainly depicts the beach and a traveling monk and the composition is reminiscent of a stage scene. The monk is said to be a projection of Hiroshige himself. There are a few slight foxing spots on the left margin of this print. Also, there is a trace of removal of glue on the backside. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
